My Manifesto…

This manifesto is not a list of qualities that you need to become a great place leader. These are the beliefs and practices I tell myself and my teams: as we work to create better places, grow our communities of practice, build organizational networks, develop leadership and grow as individuals, we must hold these truths:

  • I believe it is all practice.

  • Love in organizational and community leadership is a revolutionary act and one after trying it in other ways (competition, fear, shame, etc) we might explore more.

  • Having a plan and remaining flexible is the sweet spot.

  • Being grounded in place allows for good things to be experienced and expanded.

  • Finally, love where you live.

If you love where you live, you will take care of where you live. That is the heart of this manifesto — a guiding principle for us to follow and hold each other accountable towards.
